Outline:
DJ and VJ performances are once in a lifetime experiences that are born in one time in once space. What can we do to enhance that spectacular experience? Perhaps we can create an altogether new experience by constructing a space that reacts to the audience action? With this thought in mind we have created “TEAMLAB BALL”.
With TEAMLAB BALL the audience (user) doesn’t just passively enjoy the performance of the VJ or Performer, but actively participates in creating a unique experience by tossing the floating ball. At the moment the ball is tossed by the user they become the center of the performance, but at the same moment they are sharing their experience with all the people at the event. TEAMLAB BALL enables the user to become more immersed in the performance as their actions resonate throughout the event space.
About TEAMLAB BALL
O: TEAMLAB BALL is a floating light ball of 1.5m in diameter.
1: When the user throws the ball the color of the light that it emits changes.
2: The ball uses a wireless connection to simultaneously interact with other balls and the audience space. When the user throws the ball, not only does it change color, but the colors of the other balls and the entire performance space change to the same color.
3: The ball can interact with the environment through its wireless connection. When the user tosses a ball the lighting of the event space and the VJ screen can be simultaneously changed. Toss the ball to change its light, and simultaneously change the lighting of the entire event space.
*The number of balls, the event space, and the VJ’s screen are all autonomous and act independently. They communicate by wireless P2P (Peer to Peer).
